We all have our moments where the world feels like it’s against us. We hit a rut and getting out feels somewhat like climbing a mountain.
Most often, we feel this at the start of the year – but of course, it’s not unusual to feel demotivated at any point. As we start the year, we’re gearing ourselves up to hit our goals, but while everyone else is bursting with enthusiasm, and the weeks go by, we just can’t help but feel a bit… Meh.
But don’t worry, ladies, I’m here to help! I’ve experienced the rut and found the way to get myself out with a bang! And I’m about to share my eight tips with you below.
Plan tomorrow, tonight
We ladies love a list, don’t we? But in all seriousness, there’s nothing quite like getting organized the day before. So, before you end your day, start planning for tomorrow.
Not only will creating tomorrow’s to-do list help set you up first thing in the morning, so you’ll be ready to go – but it can also help to destress your mind.
Reading is an excellent way to unwind at the end of a busy, stressful day. While many of us claim to be ‘too busy’ to read, it not only stimulates your brain, but also benefits your mental health too.
Try to take some time at least a few times a week to sit down with a good book (or even a magazine) to help unwind at the end of the day.
Make your bed first thing
Now, this may sound like a silly tip, but it really works! Making your bed as soon as you get up in the morning is a great way to kickstart your day. Plus, you’ve already ticked something off your to-do list! So before you even reach work, or whatever you have to do that day, you’ve already been productive!

Making your bed in the morning allows you to get into a positive mindset, and you’ll thank yourself later when bedtime comes around.
Exercise is great for the body and mind, especially after a stressful day. Even when you’re not feeling so motivated, a quick HIIT workout or a brisk walk will help you get your motivation back! Believe me, you’ll thank me after.
Start visualizing your goals
We all like to get motivated in different ways. But if there’s one thing I’ve noticed, ladies, it’s that visualizing your goals can be incredibly powerful.

Whether it’s buying those pants you’ve dreamed of fitting into to keep your eyes on the prize, or creating a mood board – it WORKS.
Take the time to think about what you want to achieve. Heck, start printing out some photos of your goals, whether it’s buying a house, buying a new car, you name it.
Eat a healthy diet
Many of us forget the impact that our diet can have on our mood and motivation. When we spend our time scoffing junk food, it’s easy to feel sluggish, run-down and as though we have no get-up-and-go.

Making healthy swaps is easily done! Believe me, you don’t have to go on a crazy restrictive diet to feel better.
Make time for self-care
If you’re struggling to get motivated, don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to get your mojo back! They often start with self-care. Yep, taking the time to look after yourself is key here!
Whether it’s a soak in the bath, reading a good book (as we mentioned earlier) or doing some yoga, self-care is super important for feeling motivated and de-stressing.
Have more fun
It’s easy to get caught up in what we’re supposed to do, with less time spent on fun things we actually want to do! Life is all about balance. So if you’re feeling demotivated, try to step back from your busy schedule and make some time for the things that excite you.
